Server Provisioning Errors

1 min read

Sometimes server creation fails due to cloud provider infrastructure availability or capacity issues.

General Troubleshooting

When server provisioning fails, try these steps:

  1. Try again - These are often temporary capacity issues
  2. Change server type - Try switching to a different server size
  3. Change region - Try a different region
  4. Check provider status - Visit your cloud provider’s status page
  5. Verify account limits - Ensure you haven’t hit quotas or spending limits

Cloud Provider Specific Issues

Hetzner

“error during placement”

Client API request failed: error during placement

What it means: Hetzner doesn’t have available capacity in the requested region or server type.

Solution:

  • Try a different server type (e.g., switch from cx21 to cx31)
  • Try a different region (e.g., switch from nbg1 to fsn1)
  • Wait a few minutes or hours and try again

“server limit exceeded”

What it means: You’ve hit Hetzner’s account limits for server instances.

Solution:

  • Delete unused servers from your Hetzner account
  • Request Hetzner quota limit increase
