# blossom database_instance:switchover

Switch PostgreSQL to its standby

## Usage

blossom database_instance:switchover --id ID [--yes] [--follow] [--timestamps]

## Flags

| Flag | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `--id (required)` | Database instance id |
| `--yes, -y` | Skip the confirmation prompt |
| `--follow, -f` | Follow switchover logs |
| `--timestamps` | Show log timestamps. Default: true. |

Moves the PostgreSQL writer to its standby. Blossom fences the current primary
before promotion and keeps the private endpoint unchanged; the old primary
becomes the new standby.

A brief connection interruption is expected. Use it for planned maintenance
or to test failover. The Database instance needs a standby first: set `standby: true`
with `database_instance:update`.

    blossom database_instance:switchover --id database_instance-100 --follow
