# Memcached

Blossom runs Memcached 1.6 as an ephemeral Cache with a stable private
endpoint. It is suited to disposable values that an application can recompute
from another source of truth.

## Recovery Contract

Memcached has no durable storage. Blossom recreates a missing Cache, but it
returns empty. Backups, replicas, standbys, and failover are not available
because they would imply a durability contract Memcached does not provide.

## Security

Memcached has no native authentication. Its private endpoint is available only
to linked Apps. Never make the Memcached port public.

Create an Environment Link with `target_type: CacheInstance`. Blossom supplies
`MEMCACHED_URL` to every Service in the Environment as
`memcached://HOST:PORT`, with no credentials.
