# Build Timeouts

A Build can run for up to **30 minutes**. Raise the limit to up to 2 hours
in your [Builder's](/docs/build/builders/) settings.

## Faster Builds

- **Keep your Builder warm longer** for a cache that lasts all day, or across
  days with a Persistent cache. See [Builders](/docs/build/builders/).
- **Start from a base image** that already has your heavy dependencies.
- **Order your Dockerfile for caching:** copy dependency files and install
  them before copying the rest of your code.
- **Copy only what you need,** with a `.dockerignore`.
