# Blossom Backups

Blossom provides recovery paths for Databases and Caches. Application runtime
does not need a separate backup: Blossom can rebuild it from the current
Release and configuration.

## PostgreSQL Recovery Backups

PostgreSQL recovery backups use pgBackRest to store encrypted physical backups
and transaction logs in Blossom-managed or your own S3-compatible storage. A completed backup can be
restored into a new Database, even after its source Database is gone.

## Redis Recovery Backups

Redis recovery backups create encrypted snapshots in the selected Backup
Storage. Redis remains available while the snapshot is created. Backups can
restore a new Cache after Redis data is lost.
